Almost 880 million pesos of the one thousand 141 million expected in the budget of the Guantanamo Province for the next year are aimed at supporting the costs of health, education, sports, community services, culture and rehabilitation of households.
The assistance to patients in the four hospitals of the province, 22 polyclinics, more than 500 family doctor's offices, in addition to other institutions such as homes for elderly and pregnant women of the territory, will receive about 384 million pesos, which represents the 43.8 percent of all expenses of the so-called budgeted activity.
In second order of priority, according to the budget approved by the last ordinary session of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, which 25 percent of the provincial budget is allocated, about 220 million pesos will be executed to support the educational process in 752 centers attended by about 90 thousand students.
On the other hand, nearly 60 million pesos are distributed covering sports activities for everyone, from the grass-root to the different training centers, and the 22 national competitions planned for the year that just begins.
The communal services will be able to execute more than 40 million pesos in the vital tasks for the running of cities and towns such as the maintenance of mountain roads, the collection of solid waste and the supply of water to communities not included in the network of Aqueducts and Sewers.
The social nature of the Guantanamo budget, according to the report approved by the local government body, implies a great responsibility in the execution, for which a more efficient work is needed in the management of inventories and savings in purchases and hiring to look for quality at fairer prices.
