University of Guantanamo graduates new Doctors of ScienceA total of 25 professionals from the University of Guantanamo received the PhD degrees in Physical, Economic and Pedagogical Culture, the latter with the majority of graduates during a ceremony chaired by Dennis Legra Azahares, First Secretary of the Communist Party in the province and Member of the Central Committee.
With these scientists from the sectors of education, health and agriculture, the UG increases the number of 175 graduates of Guantanamo who hold that qualification, thanks to the sustained work of the Doctoral Training School of Guantanamo, the only one of its kind in Cuba. In the ceremony held at the Guaso Theater of this city, Arianne Ortega Vega, thanked on behalf of the new doctors the support of their tutors for the competitiveness and effectiveness in training to reach that scientific level of Higher Education.
 
Due to the successful preparation of the graduates, at the graduation ceremony dedicated to the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, the Postgraduate Department, the School of Primary Education, the University of Medical Sciences and the Doctoral Training School were also recognized, the last center, leader of the program through which it currently trains more than 125 applicants in different stages.
 
Likewise, PhDs Raúl Hernández, Odalis Loriet, Cristina Samón, Mirián Gainza, Gertrudis Sugrañet, Rolando Durán Rill and Zulema de la Caridad Matos, professors who excel in the training with quality of academic personalities from the easternmost territory of Cuba, were acknowledged.
 
Alberto Turro Breff, Rector of the University of Guantánamo, said that such results show the high relevance of Cuban science and dedication to contribute to the economic and local development of the province from the different scientific branches.
 
He also stressed that this doctoral degree ensures greater quality in all teaching processes, in addition to achieving a positive impact on international collaboration agreements that raises the visibility of the institution inside and outside the country, as well as the academic level of the study program corresponding to the 38 careers of the main institution in the territory.
