Guantanamo Offers Technical Careers for Ninth Graders

Guantanamo studentsA 58 percent of the places granted in Guantanamo for the continuity of study of ninth graders belong to specialties of technical-professional education, corresponding to the needs in the province of graduates in those profiles.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, the enrollment of that educational level will amount to more than two thousand students, with a significant increase in places for average technicians (three quarters of that total), with respect to skilled workers, due to the interest of a more complete training and the increase of specialties of that first option, 57 which include two new studies: middle-level technician graduate in Law and in Warehouse Logistics.

Lisett Barnes Alá, Principal of the Department of Technical-Vocational Education, in the Provincial Directorate of Education, reported to ACN that this teaching level has 23 schools in Guantanamo, and the careers there are grouped into 16 families of specialties of which stand out, by the number of enrolled, those of the branches of construction, agriculture, services and the economy.

They also stand out for their priority, in this macro-family of mid-level careers, those of pedagogical training that enrolls next school year about 965 new teenagers graduated from the ninth grade -from the whole province-, who in four years they will be graduated in different branches of the teaching profession, 195 of them will work as teachers of the vocational schools.
