With the presence of Rafael Pérez Fernández, Member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, and First Secretary in Guantanamo, the provincial act of beginning of the 2019-2020 school year was carried out at Mártires 12 de Abril Elementary School, located in the Jamaica town, in the Manuel Tames Municipality
After a comprehensive repair process, the institution opened its doors, this September 2 completely refurbished, an investment thanked by the more 367 pioneers and teachers, who now have new classrooms, furniture, a laboratory, sports areas, among other areas, which will enable a better teaching process.
At the start of the academic year, textile workers were recognized such as Ayde Arcel Rodríguez, Marcelina Larrazábal and Yemeidi Portuando Founier for their unconditional work in the making of the Guantanamo school uniform and other provinces of the country.
The companies that supported the remodeling of some 150 Guantanamo schools were recognized, among them the Provincial Construction Materials Enterprise, as well as the outstanding organizations this year as the Revolution Defense Committee and the Cuban Women's Federation.
The opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 school year in Guantanamo was also attended by Carlos Rafael Miranda Martínez, National Coordinator of the Committee for the Defense of Revolution, who also toured the center and exchanged with teachers and pioneers of fifth and sixth grades.
