Endeavored to improve the quality in the training of professionals in the Cuban easternmost territory, the University of Guantanamo welcomed the first 80 young people enrolled in Tourism and Mechanical Engineering careers, within five years.
The premiere of these degrees in the regular course (CPE, in Spanish) is one of the novelties of the UG for this 2019-2020 school year, which will enable tourism development, as well as energy and industrial development of the territory.
Another distinctive element of this academic year is that students in 4th and 5th years, between the months of September and October, will know their work location, an alternative that will enable the performance of thesis and diploma works linked to the entity where they will work after graduation.
The opening of the specialties of forestry, veterinary, senior technician in coffee-cocoa and coconut cultivation, among other short-term degrees, is another novelty of the University of Guantanamo for this school year.
The University of Guantanamo in its 39 years of creation graduated more than 80,000 thousand professionals, said Alberto Turro Breff, rector of the University of Guantanamo, who also welcomed the more than 10,444 students who make up the enrollment of the House of Science and Progress.
