University of Guantanamo Hosts International Seminar Training and Local Development

University of Guantanamo International SemminarWith the keynote lecture of the PhD. José Antonio Rodríguez Oruña, the 5th International Scientific Seminar on Training and Local Development, began that is one of the most important events of the University of Guantanamo.

The expert, awarded with Juan Carlos Finlay Order of the State Council, specified in his speech that the event is aimed at experiences of several municipalities in the province confronting the impact of Hurricane Mathew.

With the perspective of socializing experiences in pursuit of the social and economic progress of the nations, during the meeting, sponsored by the University of Guantanamo, more than 120 research-works by Guantanamo and foreign scientists and academics are also presented.

The meeting also brings together foreign students and delegates from the University of Sonora, in Mexico with experiences related to food production, voluntary social service, as well as the role of Higher Education in the development of communities in Third World countries, among other topics.

Likewise, symposia and courses will also show topics related to social service and volunteers, quality in vocational training, as well as productive chain from local development.

On the last day of the 5th International Scientific Seminar on Training and Local Development, participants will deal with researchers related to sustainable agriculture, education for the care of the environment and prevention of hazards, vulnerabilities and environmental risks in coastal settlements of the territory.
