Morales Ojeda in GuantanamoRoberto Morales Ojeda, vice president of the Council of Ministers was received in Guantanamo Pedagogical School as part of the two-days government visit to the territory.

Accompanied by Raquel La Viste, provincial director of education, the director received a brief characterization of the school and exchanged with the participants in the educational process of that school.

In the exchange, Morales Ojeda highlighted the role of pedagogical schools in teacher coverage and was interested in the concerns of students and teachers such as the need for high level training, musical instruments for artistic education and improvements in transportation to municipalities.

The salary increase is not the only way for teacher retention, Morales Ojeda said later in his speech and stressed that teachers should be recognized and motivated from even their own scientific research work and involve the young students.

"Being a teacher is already being placed in the Vanguard of a country and that should be the impetus of political work with the young generation, and recognize the motivation to choose the pedagogical career," the director said.

Morales Ojeda defined as the main challenge of the Guantanamo Pedagogical School to guarantee the continuity of the process of teacher training through the link with the University of Guantanamo, the guarantees of overcoming as teachers, and the ideological political work that has to be directed towards the teaching of Cuban history and culture with creativity and new codes.
