With an intergenerational meeting in the schools of Guantánamo this Saturday began the activities dedicated to more than 30 thousand members of the Union of Education, Science and Sports on occasion of the Tetacher’s Day, which will be extended until next December 22.
“Fidel said himself that this local Melena town had been a heroic one and absolutely any person who had taught how to read and write an illiteracy person would become a hero of the local educational system.” Rita Brito Sánchez said.
Salvadoran Education Minister Carlos Canjura declared the municipality of El Paisnal, in the department of San Salvador, free of illiteracy, during a celebration held on Friday.
The minister congratulated the literate adults, who made a great effort to achieve the right to read and write.
The member of the PCC Central Committee Political Bureau and First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, valued the efforts made to meet the need for teachers in this province, but stressed that a more effective strategy is required to ensure full teaching coverage.
Several views of the current situation in Cuban education are being offered at the 10th International Congress of Business Management and Public Administration, underway in Havana's Convention Center, June 28-29.
