Special morning meeting were held in the majority of Guantanamo state institutions, including the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, in rejection of the coup d’état against the Constitutional President of Bolivia, Evo Morales.
The president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, announced on Sunday his resignation given increasing violence by opposition groups challenging the results of elections held October 20.
The 33 Guantanamo health professionals who are on an internationalist mission in Bolivia have been protected since this Sunday, as result of a coup d'état against President Evo Morales, said Rosaida Banderas Seijó, head of the Collaboration Department in the Guantanamo Province.
With the attendance of Rafael Pérez Fernández, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the province and Rafael Santisteban Pozo, president of the National Association of Small Farmers, the Guantanamo people commemorated the 85th anniversary of the Signature of the Lima Act.
