The chamber music group Camerata Romeu will give a concert on Saturday in this capital, plying musical works by Polish composer Frederic Chopin.

The chamber music group Camerata Romeu will give a concert on Saturday in this capital, plying musical works by Polish composer Frederic Chopin.

According to the group´'s conductor, Zenaida Romeu, The Children and Youth Choir Solfa, conducted by Mailan Avila, and Cuban piano players Lianne Vega and Fidel Leal will play waltzes and Polish Christmas carols with the string group.

Entitled Chopin in Havana, the concert will take place at the Minor Basilica of the Convento de San Francisco de Asis (Convent of Saint Francis of Assisi), a colonial building turned into a concert hall or "temple of music," according to Cuban orchestra conductor Guido Lopez-Gavilan.

Formed in 1993 by Romeu, the string group is composed of women only and stands out in the Cuban musical panorama and also in the world, due to its excellent techniques.
