The volume recollects the efforts and vicissitudes by Spanish Sanchez de Moya, founder and first mayor of Real de Minas de Santiago del Prado - the site that would become the picturesque and famous village of El Cobre, in the eastern region of this Caribbean nation.

A shrine to the image of the Virgin of La Caridad del Cobre, patron saint of Cuba since 1916, is worshiped in the village.
The work relates the findings of the consultation of valuable documents preserved in Hispanic archives, and the discovery of new elements related to the history of the island in the last decade of 16th century and the two first decades of 17th century.
