Brazilian actress, Sonia Braga, is today appearing at the 38th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, in the film ''Aquarius''.
'There are some countries that deny their own history,' the artist said, aware that the film, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, is a metaphor applicable to several nations and Clara, its main character, a symbol of resistance.
For Braga, in good shape at 66, her recent achievements as an actress in the film has become victories for Latin America, although in her country, Brazil, the government of Michel Temer has lashed out against the work and prevented her from being a Oscar Award candidate on behalf of the country.
Braga has just won the Fenix Prize for best actress in Mexico for 'Aquarius'; the film also won the prize for best director.
'Aquarius' tells the story of Clara, the last resident of the Aquarius building, who refuses to leave her memories after the building has been bought by a company, which has other plans for the lot.
