Out of the contest, the 38 th International Latin American Film of Havana city shows the Panamanian full-length film entitled ´Salsipuedes´ by the Centro American Ricardo Aguilar Navarro and the Cuban film director Manuel Rodríguez.
It was premiered in late April during the Panamanian Movie. The film shows the life of Andrés (Elmis Castillo) who was taken since his childhood by his mother (Maritza Vernaza) from the environment of his father and boxer Bobby Pimienta (Jaime Newball), known as El gato.
After the sad piece of news about the imprisonment of his father, announced by Mrs. Cristina that was the deceased and excellent Cuban actress Alina Rodríguez, the boy was said by her mother that he had to travel to the United States.
It will not be until the death of his grandfather Esteban who is the talented and experienced Lucho Gotti that Andrés see himself in Salsipùedes film, among his relatives, before his father in jail and in the middle of a present featured by the violence and family silences.
In that authentic neighborhood history, it is highlighted the great experience of the Cuban Alina Rodríguez who also assumed the last related training of the local amateur actors and actresses as part of her last work.
The film is moving and well-welcomed by the audience in the film festival from Panama and it was chosen as its candidate for the Goya award from Spain and the Oscar one from Hollywood in the United States.
Manuel Rodríguez is the scriptwriter of this full-length film. He is the same one who share that role with other local film directors of Cuban films such as Madagascar (1994), Nada (2001) and Viva Cuba (2005).
In addition, Manuel Rodríguez is part of the jury of the screenplay of this 38th film event which will include the showing of that film at 12: 30 pm (local time) and 8:00 pm (local time at the Acapulco movie heather.
