During the year 2016, Rodríguez, who studied contemporary dance at the Cuban Arts Institute (ISA) as awarded as a choreographer and dancer in the contemporary dance category, with Ramiro Guerra Prize, given by the Saíz Brother Association (AHS), and also he won DanzanDos Competition in Matanzas province,
The jury of the Elfriede Mahler Prize, led by the playwright Alba Babastro Noris, valued among the merits of the dancer Julio César Rodríguez the granting of the Creative Scholarship in the Dance Technologies contest, sponsored by the DV Danza Habana International Festival.
During the awards ceremony at the Guaso Theater in Guantánamo, the singer Arquímedes Salas Pedro, member of the Ballet Folklorico Babul, received the Elfriede Mahler Honorary Award for his 35 years of career represnting the traditions of the Caribbean and Guantanamo Folklore in cultural spaces of Cuba and abroad.
