The new generation of artists influences Guantanamo´s cultural development

The Saíz Brothers Association (AHS) in Guantanamo will reach its Third Congress next October with the pride of having among its members the Médula Dance Company, one of the best groups of modern dance in Cuba, this was recognized during a meeting of the young movement with the top authorities of the province.
Denny Legrá Azahares, first secretary of the Party in the eastern territory, said that this advance has much to contribute to local development and economic model of the country, and expressed confidence in the creators to continue defending the principles of the Cuban Revolution.
 
Nancy Acosta Hernández, President of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, recognized the unity of criteria and search for alternatives and solutions in the artistic sector after the passing of hurricanes Mathew and Irma in the easternmost territory.
 
Writer Eldis Baratute Benavides, president of the AHS in Guantanamo, mentioned as achievements of its members the project Grafomanía, a incentive to literary production; the courses for improvement creators that do not come from the artistic education and the integrating nature of the Political Song Festival, an event that incorporates several genres and art manifestations.
 
Yoelvis Labañino, Provincial Director of Cultural sector, said that they continue with the restoration tasks of the Salcines Palace and the rescue of the Regino Eladio Boti´s birth house. He also said that the repairs in the Polycarpo Pineda Rustán Provincial Library are almost finished.
 
Jorge Núñez Motes, president of the Cuban Association of Writers and Artists, UNEAC, in the province agreed that the young artistic movement is and will be a permanent promoter of spaces for debate and thinking in favor of cultural policy.
 
Núñez Motes also stressed that the link between the intelligentsia and the culture system allows the joint advance of actions such as the revitalization of the Danza Libre company headquarters, the specialized care of the Stone Zoo and the work to declare the Changüí as National Heritage.
 
The outstanding critic of Guantanamo art also said that as recognition of the results of UNEAC in Guantanamo, the territory will host in September the meeting of the national presidency of the Organization.
