Performances and Laureates in Guantánamo Welcomes World Theater Day

Guantanamo celebrates the World Theater DayA large program of activities on the International Theater Day that includes award ceremony, colloquiums and performance, will be held in Guantanamo from next Friday to Sunday, as it is celebrated every March 27 to recognize actors and actresses of the world and promote a culture of peace.

Accredited local groups will join the celebration in this city, which is advanced because on the exact date most artists in the catalog of the Provincial Council of Performing Arts will celebrate in the neighboring city of Santiago de Cuba, during the 20th Festival and Máscara de Caoba Contest, Nancy Silega Goulet, promoter of CPAE, told today to the ACN.

This Friday morning, the specialist indicated that a panel on Cuban theater, its tendencies and perspectives will open the program of activities in the Villa del Guaso, which will include three days of morning and evening shows at the Teatro Guiñol, the main venue, whose group will perform downtown at Ismaelillo Children's Playroom, on Saturday afternoon.

The program of performing arts in the Cuban easternmost province will close on Sunday with La Selva Oscura award ceremony, the highest distinction granted in Guantanamo, usually awarded during the International Theater Day, for which three actors and actresses are nominated in the category for the work of the year while another consecrated colleague are nominated to the honorary award.
