For the twenty-third time, in Guantanamo, those who express their eternal gratitude to the Apostle José Martí were awarded through colorful draws exhibited in the Contest of Visual Arts “Where a Palm Grows,” that is annually sponsored by the Provincial Center of Culture House.
Of the 87 contestants, the winner of special education category was Lester Brayan Mengana, from the Manuel Tames Municipality with the piece "Ascending to Heaven, it is Needed," while Lisset Lara from the same territory and Caleb Mosqueda, of Baracoa, received mention in this category.
Carel Laffita and Rosil Matos won the first level award, a category that includes participants under 4 up to 8 years old, while Rosío Cala and Adrián Cantillo received the award of the second category (under 9 to 11 years old) and the third category (under 12 to 18 years old) Juan Manuel Guindo and Sadiel Ramírez were awarded.
In this 23th edition of event also the institutions such as the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM), the Cultural Society that also bears the name of the National Hero and the Hermanos Saíz Association conferred collateral awards in the frame of the contest.
