The young writer, scriptwriter and literary promoter Yecenia Ramírez Sosa deserved the 2017 Guamo Award, in its twenty-ninth issue, which recognizes each year the most outstanding cultural personality of the territory, given by the Committee of the Cuban Association of Writers and Artists ( UNEAC) in the province of Guantánamo.
The prolific author, who leads the Grafomanía Literary Project, received the prize in the city´s Antonia Luisa Cabal Concert Hall, was awarded with the unanimous decision of the jury, which valued the versatility of her work and sustained results conquered during last year.
The honorary recognition was also obtained by the maestro and choreographer Ladislao Navarro Tomasén, for being a mandatory reference in the provincial artistic context, with an accentuated creative footprint of four decades contributing to the technical and intellectual growth of several generations of Guantanamo dance movement.
This time UNEAC also gave the honorary distinction to the American Sally Paliuka and the San Agustin de la Florida-Baracoa Friendship Association, for its unquestionable solidarity and humanistic vocation in the desire to cross borders to safeguard the culture of Cuba´s First City for twenty years.
The award-giving gala also became a moment of entertainment for the Conatus Saxophone Quintet for the twenty years of this Guantanamo instrumental group, which enlivened the encounter with its melodies.
