The traditional Cuban melodies of the Quinteto La Luz closed in the Guantanamo Pavilion the last pages of the twenty-seventh provincial chapter of the International Book Fair, a literary invitation in which more than 15 thousand copies were sold with a monetary report of more than 236 thousand Cuban pesos.
The closing meeting became a moment for awarding by the Provincial Center of Book and Literature to institutions such as the Association of Hermanos Saíz (AHS), Cuban Writers and Artists Association (UNEAC), the Council of Performing Arts and the Direction of Houses of Culture, for their contributions in the achievement of this Festival of Letters on this side of the country.
Likewise, they recognized the Solvisión Television Channel, the CMKS Radio Station and the Venceremos newspaper for their extensive news coverage during the twenty-seventh literary event, distinguished this 2018 with the presence of the Minister of Culture Abel Prieto Jiménez and Juan Rodríguez Cabrera, director of the Cuban Institute of Book (ICL).
Other of the awarded personalities during the event were the artistic director Lázaro Macpherson Williams and the bookstores María de los Ángeles Mejías and Zoneyda Pérez Durán, the latter for their relevant advice to the Guantanamo readers in the course of these five-days International Book Fair in Guantanamo.
The titles aimed at children and youngsters were the best sellers this 2018, together with the compilation text “Hasta siempre, Fidel,” as well as the reference literature, specifically the dictionaries and educational materials socialized during the literary fair, as reported Yilian Pérez Yen, director of the Provincial Center of the Book in Guantánamo.
On the other hand, the provincial directive explained that from the next April 16 in this eastern territory the editorial journey will begin through the rest of the Guantanamo municipalities with small fairs and festivals in the mountain communities.
