As part of a dialogical work policy Rafael Pérez Fernández, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Guantanamo, and Emilio Matos Mosqueda, President of the Assembly of People's Power in the same instance, exchanged with creators, intellectuals and artists of the territory to evaluate the Cultural Development Program.
During the meeting, the artists called for the need to diversify the system of artistic recruitment not only in the institutional network of the sector to which they belong, but also in centers of Commerce, Gastronomy and Tourism, always from a consistent hierarchy of creative processes and in line with the cultural policy of the country.
The execution of the budget for the sector in 2019 in constructive actions and restoration of the Salcines Palace, the Rafael Inciarte Musical Documentation Center and the home of Regino Eladio Boti constituted work priorities, socialized in the exchange with the political and governmental authorities of the territory.
The system of payment to the artists was enhanced and the inquiry of the public’s consumption, in pursuit of a cultural program with an aesthetic value, were other key issues of the artists, which also opted to contribute from the sensibility of art to the battle against historical forgetfulness.
Intellectuals and creators also explained the importance of better articulating the promotion of their work in national and international circuits, while they valued the creation of the Technical-Artistic Council as an evaluating committee of the proposals to be presented in the popular celebrations from the province.
The event took place at the Huambo Cultural Center, in the Guantanamo City, where the artists evoked the mark left by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and ratified their commitment to support the new Cuban Constitution on February 24.
