Bread for Faith, a New Play of Guantanamo Scene

Guantanamo theaterThe single-person play Pan para la fe (Bread for faith) was presented for first time at the Theater Guiñol of Guantanamo City by the group Teatro de la Totalidad, whose leading role is interpreted by the young actor Fermín Francel, under the artistic direction of Geordanis Carcasés and the musical production of Marcos Antonio Pérez.

Inspired by Fermín Francel’s own experience as a member of the Guantanamo-Baracoa Theater Crusade, the work bets on the combination of dance, theater and music as a mean to deal with the idea of succeeding in life and the migration flow to large urban centers pursuing a dream.

The play distinguishes itself by its original music, with live tova, hip-hop, rumba, pop, guaguancó rhythms, and the shadow theater as a complementary resource of the work, in which Fermín Francel seduces the spectators thanks to his acting skills while performing different characters on stage from their most varied nuances.

Geordanis Carcasés, artistic director explained that he assumed the Stanislavsky’s technique during working in the staging of Pan para la fe, and the main aim of the Teatro de la Totalidad is to consolidate itself in the Guantanamo scene and of the country as a musical theater company, with its own values ​​and characteristics.

Pan para la fe will be on the billboard every Friday and Saturday of October, from 9:00 pm at the Guiñol Theater of this city, a special invitation from the Teatro de la Totalidad and the Provincial Council of Performing Arts of Guantanamo.
