The film "Cuba libre" by Cuban director Jorge Luis Sanchez will be premiered today with the presence of all the cast and as part of the Day of National Culture.
The film "Cuba libre" by Cuban director Jorge Luis Sanchez will be premiered today with the presence of all the cast and as part of the Day of National Culture.
"I scripted the film in 1998 but, as all projects, it did not come to light until all elements merged. In December 2012 we began the talks and luckily I met many people willing to make a period film, that's how the film was made", said Sanchez.
Sanchez said that the feature film, based on the war that confronted Cuba, Spain and the United States in 1898, has an important contribution made by children newcomer to cinema Alejandro Guerrero and Christian Sanchez.
"History is not for playing around, but art provides me with licenses to create my own drama, provided that it is credible. I did a lot of research for this film, but there are real characters and others that never existed", said Sanchez.
Actress Isabel Santos plays the role of a teacher in the film, accompanied also by famous actors Manuel Porto and Norwegian Jo Adrian Haavind.
