As part of the celebrations for the National Rebellion Day in Guantanamo, the inhabitants of this province will enjoy the concerts of local traditional groups as Mi Tumba'o, Sabor y Ritmo Orchestra, El Ruso y su Banda, as well as other music and dancing expressions.

Spaces such as the Mella and National theaters, the Casa del Alba, CIDMUC, La Tropical and La Piragua, were among the wide range of venues in the capital which played host to this celebration in honor of Cuban trova and its musicians.

From May 13th to 21st, the twentieth event of the International Cubadisco 2017 Fair will be held and it will be dedicated to the traditional Trova (folk music) and the local Nueva Trova ( the New One, literally) and to the 150 years of the birth of musician Sindo Garay.

For his outstanding achieviments in contests, participation in dance workshops and festivals in Cuba in 2016, the dancer Julio César Rodríguez Azahares of the company Danza Fragmentada won the Elfriede Mahler Provincial Award, a recognition given by the Council of Performing Arts in this eastern territory.
