The "Cuban Nights" space was opened in this capital by the island''s embassy in Belgium, to allow the approach to the culture of the Caribbean nation. The film "Jose Marti, el ojo del canario," was screened during the event, in commemoration of the 163rd birthday of the national hero.

His versatility reflects his ability to transform himself, to be a poet or a reciter of entire books, of myths and legends, making good use of his wondrous memory – which, he says, is a result of his connection to oral culture since he was a child, when he listened to living libraries, who sweetened his ears with songs and tales from all ages.

Paramount Pictures has optioned the novel "The Sandcastle Empire" with Leonardo DiCaprio on board to produce after wining the Golden Globe and SAG Awards 2016 as best actor. Jennifer Davisson, DiCaprio's partner at Appian Way, is also attached to produce through their production banner.
