With 54 member associations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has the largest number of votes, followed closely by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), with 53.
However, history has proven that being an African doesn't automatically translate into support needed from the continent, as proven when South Africa struggled to get African votes in its bids to host the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The electoral committee of FIFA, announced yesterday the five presidential candidates approved. Besides Sexwale, they are Jerome Champagne (France), Gianni Infantino (Switzerland), Ali Bin Al Hussein (Jordan) and Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khlalifa (Bahrain).
