The Cuban team aspires to get a ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer, after the team missed out on London 2012.
The last time the Cuban fencing team has competed in the Olympic Games was in Beijing, China, in 2008, when the foil fencer, Misleidis Company and saber fencer, Maylin Gonzalez competed.
For Cubans, only Rodriguez, in 53rd place in the universal hierarchy, with 35.5 points, appears as having the possibility of achieving the Olympic ticket.
Rodriguez has attended several World Cups with the goal of being among the first two in the regional ranking and reach classification.
Return to the Olympic stage, even if it seems complicated, would be a step forward for the Caribbean nation.
