`Puerto Rican tennis player Monica Puig is still the best female tennis player of Latin America, according to the most recent update of the world ranking list released by the World Tennis Association on Monday. The Puerto Rican tennis player has 990 points, and is ranked 63rd.

The second best Latin American player is the Brazilian, Tatiana Pereira, who is in the 84th position.

The Czech player Petra Kvitova has gone up by one place and now occupies the 6th position in a list which the US Serena Williams still indisputably leads.

Kvitova could classify for the quarterfinals of the tournament of Sttutgart, Germany, after winning her match against Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza, listed 4th in the world ranking.

Despite being defeated in the semifinals, by German player, Angelique Kerber, Kvitova was able to gain a total of 4,530 points to get her 6th place in the ranking.

The Romanian player, Simona Halep has gone down to 7th place, after her defeat against Laura Siegemund (71st) in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
