The Cuban rower Angel Fournier competes today in one of the four quarterfinal heats of rowing tournament at the 31st Olympic Games, taking place on Lake Rodrigo Freitas, in Rio de Janeiro.

Fournier, single skull winner in cups and world championships, will be on lane next to Shakhnboz Kholmurzaev Uzbek, Iranian Memo, Norwegian Nils Jakobhoff, Rhys Grant Dongyong Australian and South Korean Kim, who seek to advance to the semifinals A and B.
   

If the Guantanamo rower advances, who dominated the qualifying heat in the first round, keeps alive the aspirations of getting the first medal for Cuba in event under the five rings.
   

The first three places in each semifinal -of six  rowers- will discuss medals in the final A, while those who finish fourth through sixth, fight for positions seven through 12 in the final B.
