Leinier finished fourth with score of 10.5 points in 15 rounds after seven wins, equal number of draws and just one loss.
Seeded 13th due tohis 2 749 ELO units, the Caribbean experienced a nearly perfect closing with draws against Carlsen and Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi besides a victory overAzeri Shakriyar Mamedyarov.
Such performance earned him to add 26 points to his ELO for rapid matches.
Carlsen, also universal monarch, had begun with unexpected couple of draws, but in the following days he ended with 11.5 units after eight wins and five draws.
Nepomniachtchi and Azeri Teimour Radjabov finished second and third in that order tied with Leinier (10.5) although with better tiebreaker.
The also Cuban Lazaro Bruzon was more discreet when finishing 80 th with 7.5 points after four wins,the same amount of losses and seven draws .

Leinier won this event in 2008, but with a format of only 16 players, much more demanding thanthis one.
