He said that to achieve this goal in 20,000 homes still without this service in the country, they gradually boost the installation of photovoltaic panels on homes located in the mountainous areas with difficult access, but also they study other variants of energy supply.
According to the report presented by the Electric Company in Guantanamo on December electrification should reach 33 settlements (610 homes), mostly in the Turquino Plan, in what is considered the most significant investment in recent years.
During the meeting with managers of companies and agencies in the sector, Alfredo Lopez Valdes also evaluated in Guantanamo the control of fuel and during his exchange with business leaders and others in the sector in the province, acknowledged the positive results shown in the electrical service to population, sale of liquefied gas, use of small-hydroelectric plants and photovoltaic cells installed on facilities of economic and social impact.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines was created in June 2012 and brings together nine Guantanamo companies related to the oil, electricity and mining activity, and includes entities such as the salt mining, utility, mountain power unit, the lubricants and CUPET.
