Public Health, Parliament, Agriculture and Trade report the larger number of industrial injuries, with the highest incidence in the municipalities of Guantánamo, Baracoa and Niceto Pérez, while Yateras, Maisi and Caimanera do not report occupational accidents.
Niolbis Machado Guilarte, union official, says that disuse of protective gearand lack of safety standards established in the workplace agreement are the most common causes of work-related accidents, in which 80 workers in the territory this year have been injured.
The 2115 is the second consecutive year during there are no death reported in Guantanamo, the indicator in which labor movement’s demands for surveying the risk in workplaces and the declaration of areas and centers protected.
The National Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated every month of November to achieve a culture of prevention entails respect for the right to enjoy a safe and healthy workplace.
