Guantanamo will present its progress in feeding pigs during the 5th International Meeting on Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperatives, organized by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).
The easternmost province of the Caribbean island, as a branch of the planned event from November 22 to 27, will show the advantages of Biolac, a biologically active product used successfully during breeding or pre-fattening pigs.
This nutrient -considered as a prebiotic composed of lactobacillus, yeast, amino acids and digestive enzymes -, was conceived by Rafael Medina Gonzalez, member of the Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS) Angel Bouza, one of the farm to be visited by the delegates attending the meeting.
In his farm Juanica –awarded The Triple Crown of the Excellency forUrban, Suburban and Family Agriculture-, the farmer found that Biolac improves the digestion of pigs, and increases weight and decreases the stench of aging room.
Medina González stressed to ACN the cooperation to his project of PhD. Elias Arabel, a researcher at the Institute of Animal Science (ICA).
The Biolac already used with sobering effects in Maqueicito unit and the Provincial Swine Company.
