Over 200 delegates from 27 countries have so far confirmed their presence, with the US having the largest delegation, Silvio Platero, president of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Peoples Sovereignty said.
Platero gave information here last night, in a meeting to check the preparations for the event, which was attended Denny Legra Azahares, first secretary of the Communist Party in the eastern province.
He said that the northern country will be represented by Cindy Sheehan, Ann Wright and Medea Benjamin, among other personalities who have devoted part of their lives to the struggle for peace and brotherhood among peoples.
The seminar's main objective is to denounce the interventionist policy of the big nations, which try to establish military bases in all continents. They also aim to gain support from participants in the just demand of the Cuban government and people for the US to return the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo Naval Base since 1903.
In the military enclave in the eastern region United States has established a dark prison, considered the center of cruelest and inhumane tortures in the planet. More than 100 prisoners held there, have never been judged by the alleged terrorist acts they have been charged.
The meeting is organized by the Cuban Movement for Peace and the World Peace Council, in coordination with the Cuban Friendship Institute. Prior to the Fourth Seminar, on November 20 and 21, a meeting by the Executive Committee of the World Peace Council will be held in the halls of the Mariana Grajales Revolution Square.
