    An award for the Jose Marti Brigade´s Community Art

    Preserving the cultural values ​​of the Guantanamo communities from projects that link child and youth groups, is the essence of the Jose Marti Brigade, made up of the art instructors of the province.

    Today its members gathered at the Ruben Lopez Sabariego House of Culture in city of Guantanamo to receive the Escaramujo Award, which recognizes the initiative and work of instructors and amateur artists in their effort to raise the cultural universe of the public regarding the traditions of the eastern Cuban province.

    The projects el Negro y su Changüi and Renacer Cossia received the Escaramujo Award for the quality of their artistic proposals.

    The Grand Prix was received by the project Jagüey La Esperanza, from the Argeo Martínez community in the municipality of Manuel Tames, to which 68 children and 27 adults pertain and through singing, dancing and theater, they rescue the autochthonous and Franco Haitian traditions of their community. They hold the Community Culture Award in 2013 and a significant place in the preservation of sugar heritage.

    In the cultural gala for the prize-giving other projects were present including “Genesis" and “El amor toca a tu puerta”, from the municipality of Yateras, the latter with ten years of existence with important recognitions, such as National Prize for Community Exchange sponsored by a non-governmental organization along with the Cuban Association of Artists and Writers (UNEAC) and houses of culture in the country.

    Today the project “El amor toca a tu puerta” has significant impact in the transformation of the Monteverde community and the dinamzation of others places like Bernardo and Arroyo del Medio.

    The award ceremony concluded with a dance company Genesis, whose message was translated into the need for coexistence with dissimilar passions and feelings and the need to support people living with HIV / AIDS.
