Health authorities in the province of Guantanamo called to a greater stability of the organization and sanitation actions to minimize the incidence of dengue among Guantanamo population during 2016, a year that began with epidemiological vulnerabilities.
Among the strategies planned this year to improve the epidemiological situation in the territory are included educational messages in the Media, sanitary hearings in neighborhoods, schools and workplaces, as well as the coordinated work among medical staff, vector control personnel and mass organizations.
Hygiene specialists also insist on the need to increase risk perception about dengue, their complications and consequences, so it should have support and responsibility of the people in the houses, where the 80 percent of outbreaks are reported.
Priority for 2016 it is to increase health surveillance in the territory and achieve sustainability in the work of all those involved in the campaign against the mosquito Aedes aegypti to reduce harmful levels of vector infestation and prevent dengue epidemic.
