Boqueron Port workers in Guantanamo Bay, in eastern Cuba, so far the current year have unloaded 11, 643 tons of goods, after completing the unloading of cement from the ship Atenea and a barge that brought sacks of rice.
Juan Bautista Alcántara de la Cruz, director of the Base Business Unit (BSU) Business Port Services of the East, said the plan of operations for the current year is 45, 000 tons.
The amount received so far confirms the willingness of the group to repeat the work of 2015, when they unloaded 50,000 tons, a milestone in the recovery of coastal trade in the territory provided for in Guideline 270 of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution.
The group exceeded by almost 72% as planned and achieved the best result since the reopening of the wharf Aracelio Iglesias in 2010 after a long and complex process of restoration.
Although operations increase, it is appropriate to clarify that in the late 19th century, the workers unloaded over 80,000 tons of various cargoes through the Port of Boqueron, near the illegal Yankee naval base in Guantanamo Bay.
