A contribution to the agricultural sector in Guantanamo is the application of Microben, a byproduct obtained at the Center for Mountain Development from beneficial microorganisms capable of restoring the soil and benefit pig management.
The compound obtained from a mix of bacteria, fungi and yeast, is beneficial in agriculture upon influening the crop growth, its productivity and resistance to pests and diseases, as referred by Noryaisi Romero Abreu, specialist at the scientific institution.
The expert outstands its probiotic properties in pigs upon making easier digestion and animal health, propotiating thir growth, immune response and contributing to wastewater treatment and cleaning of hatcheries.
During 2014, the marketing of this compound gave considerable income to the Center for Mountain Development which surpassed the 17,000 pesos (national curreny), becoming the entity´s leading product, backed by loyal customers as the Provincial Swine Enterprise.
