The event`s program includes rural festivals, theater performances, book presentations, exhibitions of visual art, competitions, research and conferences.
Lidistania Gomez, assistant director of the House of Culture Cecilio Gómez Lambert, reported that during the most important cultural event of the First Village of Cuba since 1976, many traditional activities have been held such as the inaugural parade of workers in the sector, the pilgrimage to the municipal cemetery for tribute to deceased who dedicated their lives to art- on Juración Street-the right place for activities of traditions-, and awards ceremony of the painting contest Primero de Abril.
Within the program of activities in Baracoa, the community projects “Mi parque,” “El Patio de Rosendo,” Kiribá-Nengón Festival, the event research “Duaba, a necessary landing” and the Meeting of Treseros are also included.
The Culture Week in Baracoa is dedicated to special activities that mark the 505 anniversary of the First Village of Cuba, the 70th birthday of the historian Alejandro Hartmann, the 40th of the foundation of the Municipal House of Culture and 15 years of Atabey project, by the art instructor Mildo Matos.
