At present, the railway wagon are being gotten ready and drivers and their assistants are being trained to operate the new motor cars, in order to start service next day 15th, according to Humberto Imbert Ortiz, chief of the Railways in the territory.
He said that train engines come from Russia and were joined in the Railway Industrial Company José Valdés Reyes, in Matanzas. And each trailer has capacity for 96 seated passengers and 25 standing.
He noted that they first schedule three daily trips to Caimanera and Cuneira, respectively, and called users and crews to take care of those expensive trains in order to be durable and provide good service.
The running of the new trains will allow the two old trains to cover the routes of Honduras, Maquey and Manuel Tames in the province. It is the aim of railway station in Guantanamo with the motor car to recover soon the service of the itinerary from Sur Station (Moncada and Pintó Street) to the old sawmill of Santa Maria.
