In the waters of Valparaiso, Chile this weekend the Guantanamo Cobas won the ticket in the women's open category and thus up to now she is the sixth of the athletes from the easternmost province of Cuba.
The Guadalajara 2011 Pan American champion impressed in Chilean territory and will compete in the Olympics to be attended by the best athletes in the sports world.
Together with her teammate Aimé Hernandez, won in the double sckull in the preliminary competition, clocking 7:56730, and then secured her visa at the semifinals when she crossed third the finish line (7: 57385) qualifying in group A.
In this decisive stage, won by Michelle Parson (7: 42,008), of Bermuda, Cobas (7: 54513) finished sixth.
Guantanamo in this discipline will also be represented by the rower Angel Fournier who qualified from the Aiguebelette World Championship, France last year.
The boxers Arlen Lopez and Erislandy Savon, the shooter Jorge Graud, the rowers Angel Fournier and Yariulbis Cobas and the wrestler Yowlys Bonne are the Guantanamo athletes to participate at Rio de Janeiro 2016.
