    Bonds of solidarity, friendship and brotherhood between Cuba and the Dominican Republic were reflected during the bilateral meeting of sport workers in the province of Guantanamo and members of the sister nation.

    José Martí, Cuba's National Hero was present during the exchange, in which Dominicans recognized Marti's thought in order to achieve a more united and free America.

    In the Nguyen Van Troi Stadium, where matches of National Baseball Series take place, the Dominican comrades met with the sports authorities of Guantanamo rich history in the sport.

    The visitors knew by Rolando Charro Estrada, provincial director of sports in the province, about the Guantanamo sports stars like the judoka Driulys Gonzalez, and the boxer Felix Savon, both Olympic, World and world cup medalists in their disciplines.

    The extensive list also includes the boxer Angel Herrera, Olympic and world champion two times, the javelin thrower Maria Caridad Colon, the first Olympic champion in Latin America and many others.

    Dominicans knew how to work in attracting sporting talent from early ages and praised Guantanamo sports development, if it would compete as a country as such, occupies a prominent place in sporting history.

    During the pleasant exchange stood out as the ideals of Hatuey, a Taino cacique of the island of Quisqueya who fought against the Spanish conquerors in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba, who is recognized as the first rebel of America.

    Visitors referred to the power of baseball in his country, highlighted the achievements of the 400 meters hurdler Felix Sanchez, the Olympic champion in Athens 2004 and in London 2012, considered the greatest athlete in the history of the Dominican Republic.

    Cubans and Dominicans all joined their voices during the bilateral meeting to demand the end of unfair economic and financial blockade against Cuba and the return of the occupied naval base in Guantanamo Bay against the will of the Cuban people.

    The work of trade unions under the slogan "From San Pedro de Macoris to Guantanamo," became an embrace of solidarity among Guantanamo unionist of the Federation of Cuban Workers (CTC) and about 30 representatives of the friendly nation.

    The group of comrades belongs to the National Confederation of Trade Union Unity (CNUS) of the Dominican Teachers Association (ADP), the Union of Workers of Gerdau METALDOM, and the National Union of Workers of Nursing (SINATRAE).
