The dimension and variety of the workforce reveals the priority given by the municipality to recondition a key center in preserving the people´s health in Baracoa and since its opening in September 1955, had never undergone a repair work of such magnitude.
The work began last year with 95% waterproofing cover installation, the construction of a new septic tank and a biofilter, says Dr. Jose Angel Martin Cantillo, director of the health center.
He also said that during that period it was also carried out the rehabilitation of neonatology and pregnant, the emergency room, plumbing networks and the installation of two elevators.
Actions continued in 2016 with the repair of three rooms, pediatrics obstetrics, orthopedics and oncology, in addition to the delivery rooms and other areas such as the kitchen, boiler, laundry, doctor´s room and warehouses,.
Right now it is working on expanding of the nephrology room, a task that includes the installation of a water treatment plant and the addition of five new artificial kidneys, which replace an equal amount of those means now obsolete.
