Cuba, Fidel, the OAS and the Exact Time of Latin America

Like that February 4, 1962, today everyone has its eyes on Cuba.

Like that February 4, 1962, today everyone has its eyes on Cuba.

In that year, the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro addressed to all the people when Cuba was expelled from the Organization of American States (OAS) and from all continents were expecting a response from our homeland. At that time, Fidel was referring to messages showing how much interest, how much attention, how much solidarity the Cuban response had aroused in face of that infamy.

At that time the Commander in Chief was referring to how the United States exerted great pressure on lackey governments in Latin America, with the exception of Mexico, and how in the OAS’s Eighth Meeting of Consultation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs 8th, held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, agreed to exclude Cuba as being "incompatible with the inter-American system”..

Cuba, which had already been suffering under the incessant attacks of Yankee imperialism for three years, knew that new attacks and plots against our country were promoted. Nothing was new to our people. A long list of incessant interference from the United States always showed the interest of the U.S. on our island. Annexationist dreams rooted in the time of the Monroe Doctrine and the Ripe Fruit Policy, geopolitical instruments to guarantee US hegemony in the Americas.

After 53 years of the Second Declaration of Havana, a document with which Cuba confirmed its anti-imperialist position and to defense of its sovereignty, our country is attending the Seventh Summit of the Americas for the first time in 2015, thanks to the support and solidarity of Latin American and Caribbean continent united in a common demand.

The presence of Cuba, as has transcended, not mean a change of position on the OAS, since the island has ratified its total rupture with this body, considered as a ministry of colonies under the orders of the U.S.

Hence our country will raise its voice in all forums: stands solid and firm in its position in defense of independence; non-interference; peaceful coexistence with respect for differences; fidelity to our principles and the defense of peace as the supreme good to build a better world, with opportunities for all and against neoliberal policies.

Already Raul Castro declared that at the Summit of the Americas we are to fight for just causes like today the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela defends before the U.S. president’s decree that considers the nation as a threat to his country, which has turned the nations in the region against that policy, because as the Venezuelan people say: Venezuela will be Respected.

Cuba’s delegation, who attends forums and activities parallel to the 7th Summit like forums of Civil Society, of youth, business and university rectors, upon its arrival issued a statement in which they denounce the presence in Panama of mercenaries paid who will not get off the voice of the true Cuban civil society.

They also states that it is offensive that those who "have turned treason to their homeland into a well paid trade and shamefully usurp the name of the country they slander and offend every day" take part in these meetings.

Currently Fidel Castro’s speech in 1962 endures. In that time he quoted, "(...) behind the empty words of the objectors of the Cuban nation, there were no people; behind there were the murderers of workers and students, peasants; behind there were the most corrupted (...) "

Today the statements of the leader of the Cuban Revolution becomes effective when he said "Yes, now history will have to take the poor of America into account, the exploited and spurned of Latin America, who have decided to start writing themselves, forever , their story ".
