The Cuban Foreign Ministry acknowledged the decision of the US government to exclude Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
In a statement by the General Director of United States of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal, it was informed about the action of US President Barack Obama regarding that point.
In this regard, the Foreign Ministry said the president issued the "Certification of derogation of the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism".
By this action, President Obama has decided to exclude Cuba from the list of state sponsors of international terrorism and notify to this effect to the US Congress, which will have 45 days to decide.
In this regard, the Cuban Government acknowledges the legitimate decision of the President of the United States to eliminate the island from a list that never should have been included in.
He recalled that the country has been victim of hundreds of terrorist acts that have caused three thousand 478 deaths and have incapacitated two thousand 099 Cuban citizens.
As the government has reiterated several times, Cuba rejects and condemns all acts of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations as well as any action aiming to encourage, support, finance or cover such activities.
