In order to promote scientific publications by technologists from Cuba and the rest of Latin America, the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM) held today the official launch of its digital journal BioProcesos.
After several years of internal work, in this new stage we want to add as authors not only technologists from BioCubaFarma business group, but also professionals from other institutions and universities, said PhD Ernesto Chico, chief editor of the new publication.
For five years the journal circulated only within the entities belonging to CIM as a way of promoting awareness among professionals in the areas dedicated to the industrial issues.
In that period were published 114 articles in 13 issues covering all relevant topics related to bioprocesses, from the study and generation of cell lines to the business aspects of the industry.
Prompted by these results, we decided to extend the bioprocess journal to become a tool available to the community working in the Cuban and Latin American biopharmaceutical sector, Chico said.
Meanwhile, the executive editor of the journal, Dr. Lizette Fontanet, said bioprocesses will have a quarterly frequency, and its first issue features eight articles in Spanish and one in English.
The specialist added that it is an electronic format of open content, so the download of articles is free of cost.
Bioprocesses has an editorial committee composed of researchers from the CIM and Cuban universities such as Computer Sciences, University of Camaguey and Jose Antonio Echeverria University Campus.
Scientists from the Uruguayan Institute Pasteur, of Montevideo, the Catholic University of Valparaiso, Chile, and the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals, of Brazil, are also part of the journal.
