A total of 1 379 families, whose homes were completely destroyed by Hurricane Matthew and live in remote places, have so far received the construction materials for the restoration of their houses.
To these families, the Cuban State guarantees 18 zinc tiles with their easel, cement, a sink, nails and cables for those located in electrified areas.
In a first stage 2 000 dwellings will be favored with this alternative solution, which allows to advance at a faster pace in the recovery of the 8 413 houses totally destroyed by the hydrometeorological phenomenon.
The remaining 6,134 affected dwellings will be restored by the state building plan for these houses and the construction of their own efforts, said Carlos Martínez Turro, vice president of the Provincial governing Body.
The process of recovery of the more than 42 000 houses damaged by Matthew in the province prioritized the compensation of those that had partial and total roof damage, together with those that suffered damage in part of their infrastructure.
As part of this strategy, for the upcoming May, all the homes that correspond to the first two categories must be recovered. For now, the municipalities of Yateras, San Antonio del Sur and Imías have already restored all those who suffered such damages, said the vice president.
