The strongest testimony of Hurricane Matthew is in the houses of this municipality, where almost all homes suffered the hard impact of the meteor in last October.

In total, 3 398 dwelings were totally destroyed and 793 were partially damaged, while the ceilings of 3 152 were completely destoryed, and partly 1,209 were damaged. According to Municipal Defense Council, thisa figure  represents almost 98 percent of the territory´s houses.

But the restoration of the damages, a complex process that has been going on for over six months, has figures that reveal an important advance: the delivery of resources to the 8,552 families affected, the recovery of all partial damages in the roofs, 98.6 per cent of the totally damaged ceiling, and 93.6 per cent of those partially destroyed.

It is also an example of the work done the termination of 352 homes, of  906 which will be much better than before thanks to the cooperation of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in five communities.

Before the end of May, the first houses will be given to the peolpe affected in the new community of Limones, in Punta de Maisí, where 37 of the 72 have been already built.

This was confirmed by Modesto Laffita Cobas, head of the work in the area of ​​Limones: "They are houses built with prefabricated pieces made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), having two and three rooms with antiseismic characteristics, protected against fire, resistant to saltpeter and with an internal temperature lower than that of the place´s traditional houses.
