With projects integrated around the southern coastal strip and the Nipe Sagua Baracoa Massif, the province could opt for a financing of the Green Climate Fund, stressed today at the inaugural session of Guantanamo Innova Fair, Omar Cantillo Ferreiro, adviser to the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment in Cuba.
The expert highlighted the existence of the Guantanamo-Guaso and Toa basins, together with the natural values of the Alejandro von Humboldt National Park, which is ideal for the development of nature tourism.
In this regard, he emphasized the need to present a cross-cutting project that encompasses the efforts of several institutions with an impact on the use of clean energy, water resources, land use and ecosystem care.
Omar Cantillo Ferreiro, an adviser to the Minister of Science, said that in Guantanamo there are human resources and capacities to design projects to have impact on people and vulnerable or fragile habitats.
The Green Climate Fund is a mechanism within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change set up to support developing countries with climate change adaptation and mitigation practices.
