President Raul Castro met Monday in Algeria Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, with whom he analyzed ways to strengthen political relations and boost bilateral trade, the official Algerian news agency APS reported.
The meeting, which reviews the international and regional situation and challenges that both countries face, was also attended by Algerian foreign ministers, Ramtan Lamamra, and of Health, Abdelmalek Boudiaf.
Cuban President also held talks later with the president of the National People’s Assembly, Ould Khelifa.
Raul arrived in the morning on Sunday in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Algeria, on a three-day official visit.
Shortly after his arrival in the African country, Raul Castro paid tribute to the martyrs of the Algerian Revolution in the memorial that honors them in the Algerian capital.
As part of the working visit agenda to that nation, the Army General Raul Castro is expected to meet with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
This is the third visit of Raul Castro to the African nation, where he was already in February and July 2009 and this time his accompanying delegation is composed by Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice president of the Council of Ministers; Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs; the Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and Barzaga Raul Navas, Cuba's ambassador to that country.
The three-day visit to Algeria of the Cuban president responds to a direct invitation by Algerian President and aims to broaden and deepen the political and trade relations and promote the historical ties between the two countries, which goes back to 50 years ago.
