About 562 m3 of sawn timber, the workers of the Guantanamo Agroforestal company produced for the state order until the end of May, a figure that exceeds the foreseen plan at 100%.
These workers also fulfilled the reforestation commitments, achieving some 74 hectares by the method of natural regeneration and one hundred and eleven hectares by planting seeds in areas of interest for the recovery of the environment.
They also produced about 115 tons of coal, of the 128 planned for export, which allows them significant foreign exchange earnings that has an impact on the well-being of the workers.
Rafael Prieto Santana, Director of the Guantanamo Agroforestry Company, explains that with these productive results they can get out of the financial difficulties of the previous year by increasing sales and making profits.
On the other hand, Eugenio Boni Pareira, Secretary of the Trade Union Section of the Guantanamo Agroforestal company, expresses the joy of members who participate in volunteer work and perform other activities to rebuild, paint, clean and beautify the workshop in anticipation of June 21, the Forest Worker's Day.
